.bashrc not working

Hi there,
for some reason it appears that .bashrc is not being read after a login.
It contains this line:

export PATH=$PATH:/usr/pkg/bin:/usr/pkg/sbin

if i run this directly on the command line it works.

Any ideas whats wrong? Im running 1.4.
