Is there any document available that justifies move to gcc3 in dragofly?

The timeline on the gcc compiler project?

http://gcc.gnu.org/releases.html#timeline

It will soon be four years since the last gcc2 verion
was released, and *twenty* releases of gcc3 have taken
place since then. Major changes have taken place in CPU,
bus, memory, video, networking, and 'glue' in that time.
Compilers need to change also.

There has been, and will continue to be, controversy over
gcc3.x. There are several forums for that discussion, and
certainly room for improvement - lots of it - in gcc3.

But the coders on the DragonFly project seem to be handling the
migration in a very measured, thorough, and professional way,
with a great deal of time and effort invested in parallel testing.
