No, the original question mentioned only a single directory.
Someone lese then asked about a directory tree.
My mistake, sorry. I took the example from the unix hater's handbook
where the question is of a directory tree (which is why the writer
tries to use find), but paraphrased it sloppily.

The *original* task was to delete all files in a single subdir.
Regardless.
But w/o panicing a running IMAP daemon that might want to add a few new
ones during the process.
It was, after all, a Maildir/.Trash folder..
My Forth-legacy inclination would have been to simply bitch-slap the
relevant inode(s) and tell them to forget whatever-TF they thought they
knew.
But BSD was probably never that simple...
