I have read some months ago that there are indeed a couple of advantages
in gcc 3 although compile time is slower than in 2 (is binary execution
also slower?). But what is for DragonFly the advantages of 4 over 3 or

"they" say compile time for .c code is slower, for .cc especially with lots of templates is much faster. i can confirm the c++ part.


like asmo said, it got better warning messages than gcc3, so we might want to use it to occasionally check and clean code.

What about ProPolice ?

OpenBSD's Marc Espie said there isn't a port for gcc4:

yes, doesn't exist yet. maybe it will be available in some distant time.
