trouble burning a cd

I think my problem here is my CD-ROM, since this has just
suddenly started to happened. When I do:

burncd -f /dev/acd0c data whatever.iso fixate

it starts and then ends suddenly with this error message:

acd0: WRITE_BIG - MEDIUM ERROR asc=0x0c ascq=0x00 error=0x04

anyone got any ideas? If you need more information let me know.
