These were the lines I commented out in the dfports Makefile, lines 91-95:

# OOo requires gcc 3.3 (not systems's gcc)
# BUILD_DEPENDS+= gcc33:${PORTSDIR}/lang/gcc33
# USE_GCC=3.3 # make no sense yet
# CC=  gcc33
# CXX= g++33
