I have made a patch to sync DFB with FreeBSD-curret's FireWire driver.
You can find it at:

This patch may still need some cleanup and it doesn't include
the tagged queuing hack.

The original FireWire driver for FreeBSD-4.x has a IP over 1394
support. I don't know whether it actually worked or not.
