Disk IO scheduling down the drain again

The subject says it all.

Has anyone lately tried listening to an mp3 stream and extract a large
tarball?  You're bound to get skipping.

And then there's of course the dual make and mp3 listening case, where you
see one make process totally run down the other and where the mp3 playing
becomes more silence than audio.

But that's definitely not my area to work on.
