:/etc/ppp/ppp.conf - connection is still active, but really it cannot be

    My guess is that pppd is still in an infinite 'R'un loop, since we
    haven't tracked that bug down from the previous report.  If it is
    then it's dynamic priority will be greatly reduced, causing it to
    stop dead in its tracks if something else is using the cpu (like a
    compile).
