    This all sounds very dangerous.  I generally would advise against taking
    a CVS tree and importing it into another CVS tree.  Instead, just
    maintain spearate CVS trees.  Once you do a 'cvs checkout' cvs will
    remember which cvs tree the files came from so having multiple independant
    cvs trees lying around is just fine.
