    I've been compiling it in.  I am rebuilding my workstation's kernel now and
    I will try building one of my AMD64 boxes without agp and play around with the
    module loader, but I'm pretty sure that nothing new has been broken.

    Did AGP ever work on that particular box for you?  It could be a matter of
    the chipset support simply not being there.

    Post your 'pciconf -l' and your full 'dmesg' output.
